Succesful première Badings Belicht

Last Sunday, Badings Belicht premiered in The Hague. I am organising this concert series together with viola player Kardelen Buruk. This festive opening was accompanied by the world premiere of the new composition, Ichnofossils, by composer Oscar van Dillen. Van Dillen has written a new work for viola, piano and electronics especially for us and this programme.

Interest was high! Fortunately, enough chairs could be found just in time to join us in the picturesque Barthkapel. We were overwhelmed by the audience and the warm and enthusiastic response. I myself am a great advocate of raising the profile of Dutch composers. I was therefore very pleased to see that the music was well received and that our initiative was applauded. I got back from several in the audience that they were impressed by the recital and really appreciated Van Dillen’s new composition, with an eye for experimentation. Some even announced their intention to come a second time.

We are extremely grateful for the support and encouragement from the audience, friends, family and the lovely volunteers who lend us a hand. In particular, I would like to mention the municipalities of The Hague and Rotterdam who have assisted us by granting subsidies for this concert series.

For me, this successful opening and great support means confirmation that Dutch music and its composers rightly deserve more attention. With this series, I hope to reach a wide audience with the impressive music of Bartók, Frid, Badings and Van Dillen.

I would also like to hear your reaction after one of the following concerts. May I invite you personally in Delft, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague? Do you know people who would like to receive this invitation? Forwarding is appreciated!
