Fortepiano experience

Recently I had the opportunity to try-out a concert with an authentic instrument and a Steinway concert grand. The fortepiano is a Walter replica, build by Theo Kobald in Apeldoorn (NL).

It is clear I’m still discovering all the possibilities for expression and nuances on this beautiful sophisticated instrument and the possibilities to “speak”. But to take on the challenge to try-out a Haydn sonate was an absolute wonderful opportunity. It is truely fascinating how the classical languague seems to fall rigt in it’s place when performed on an instrument of it’s time. It is an important inspiration to take on when playing on a modern instrument.
